Supreme Court rules in favor of Valueguard
The Supreme Court has decided not to grant leave to appeal in the long-running dispute between Valueguard and Svensk Mäklarstatistik. This means that the judgment of the Svea Court of Appeal stands, and that Valueguard and its customers continue to have the right to use the HOX index in their reports and newsletters.
The dispute concerned Mäklarstatistik’s attempt to restrict Valueguard’s use of the renowned HOX index, which is used by the Riksbank, commercial banks, the Government Offices and real estate agents, among others. The Court of Appeal’s judgment, which has now become final, confirms that the index may be fully used in professional contexts.
– Now we can finally put this behind us and work forward, says Henrik Åkerblom, CEO of Valueguard. “It feels good that our courts have clearly clarified what we and our customers are entitled to do with the information from Mäklarstatistik.
The HOX index is a key component of Valueguard’s offering of detailed and reliable housing statistics, with wide use in the financial, housing and analytical sectors.
